March 2007
Meridian Resource Company, was recently awarded an expanded contract through February of 2009 with TRICARE Management Activity (TMA), the Defense Department's health insurance program for active duty members of the military and their dependents, and retirees.  

Under the contract, Meridian will utilize its cost-effective auditing system to review already processed claims for coding and payment accuracy.   Meridian’s staff evaluates the claim processing of the TMA sample claims to ensure claims are processed according to TRICARE benefits and guidance.

Meridian has had this contract with TRICARE since 1994.  Meridian was the only vendor considered for this contract expansion and the dedication and commitment of the Meridian Audit TRICARE team made that possible.  This contract will provide Meridian additional revenue of $2M over the next two years.  The volume of annual claims will increase from 29,000 to 41,000.

 

August 2007
Meridian’s audit department was also recently awarded a contract with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City’s to perform hospital bill audit services. Meridian's hospital bill audit process verifies all charges were ordered by a physician, rendered to the patient, and charged at the hospital's regular or negotiated price. Meridian's experienced Nurse Auditors complete a evaluation of the itemized hospital bill verifying the charges by reviewing the documentation in the medical records.
